Program Overview

The 3-5 year old program at Queensborough K.I.D.S. provides a rich and joyful learning environment with lots of opportunities to explore, learn, and grow. The program overlooks the beautiful Fraser River and allows children to observe wildlife and the working vessels on the river.

Our experienced educators provide a nurturing environment where children have a safe and fun space to try out things, take risks, practice skills, problem solve, and socialize with peers. We focus on the development of the whole child and in addition to offering support for cognitive and physical growth; we foster children’s social and emotional development.

Our developmentally appropriate and stimulating experiences offer children opportunities to practice collaboration and communication skills, grow their self-confidence and positive self-esteem, and learn about respect and care for others and the environment.

Play is a foundational part of our Preschool-Age Program. Children have ample time to play indoors and outdoors daily rain or shine. Free play time and scheduled group activities like visual art, music, science, and literacy explorations are combined with routines such as meals and rest time.

Queensborough K.I.D.S. has access to a dedicated playground and gardening area, and our program offers additional opportunities for outdoor explorations and play by visiting local parks and trails.

Enrollment

To apply for enrollment for the Queensborough Preschool-Age Program, please call 604-524-0522 or send an email to info@queensboroughkids.ca to make arrangements for a tour.

Spaces for the Queensborough Preschool-Age Program are limited and families may need to be put on a waitlist until there is a space available. Priority is given to families who currently have children enrolled at K.I.D.S. Other variables for the waitlist may be:

  • Date of waitlist application and tour
  • Availability of program of choice
  • Availability of hours and days required by your family

At time of enrollment, an orientation meeting will be planned to provide an opportunity for the family and a staff member to discuss the child care placement. During the meeting, we will review the Parent Handbook, answer any questions you might have, and discuss a gradual entry schedule. Our gradual entry schedule is flexible and will consider the needs of your child. As starting child care is an important event in your child’s life, we believe that a carefully planned gradual introduction to the program will assist you and your child to:

  • feel comfortable at the center
  • begin to build a trusting relationship with the staff
  • promote a positive beginning to your family’s child care experience
  • Full time spaces are offered for all programs
  • Part time spaces are dependent on availability
  • A $50.00 non-refundable registration fee is paid upon enrollment
  • Monthly fees are paid through post-dated cheques

Parents may be eligible for a financial subsidy from the Province of British Columbia Affordable Childcare Benefit Program (ACCB), to assist with childcare costs. Find out more about our fees here.
