QueensboroughInfant and Toddler Program

Program Overview

Our Queensborough KIDS infant/toddler program is reflective of the unique needs of this age group. We focus on providing warm and responsive care to allow children to establish trusting relationships with educators and feel safe and comfortable in the childcare environment.

Play is the essence of the program, and we offer a wide variety of developmentally appropriate materials and activities that allow for open-ended exploration, creativity, and opportunities to learn about concepts. We nurture children’s overall well-being and provide environments that support children’s motor skills, skill development, cognitive growth, language development and emerging social and emotional skills.

Our daily routine includes free-choice play time, small group experiences such as visual art explorations, and outdoor play. We have our own dedicated outdoor play space that we enjoy everyday rain or shine. We often go for walks in the neighbourhood, for example to observe the tugboats on the river. Routines such as mealtime, nap time, toileting, and language and music activities also play an important part in our day. Our experienced educators value working with parents and welcome daily interactions with families.

Enrollment

To apply for enrollment for the infant and toddler program at Queensborough KIDS, please call 604-553-1772 or send an email to info@queensboroughkids.ca.

Spaces for the infant and toddler program are limited and families may need to be put on a waitlist until there is a space available. Priority is given to families who currently have children enrolled at K.I.D.S. Other variables for the waitlist may be:

  • Date of waitlist application and tour
  • Availability of program of choice
  • Availability of hours and days required by your family

At time of enrollment, an orientation meeting will be planned to provide an opportunity for the family and a staff member to discuss the child care placement. During the meeting, we will review the Parent Handbook, answer any questions you might have, and discuss a gradual entry schedule. Our gradual entry schedule is flexible and will consider the needs of your child. As starting child care is an important event in your child’s life, we believe that a carefully planned gradual introduction to the program will assist you and your child to:

  • feel comfortable at the center
  • begin to build a trusting relationship with the staff
  • promote a positive beginning to your family’s child care experience
  • Full time spaces are offered for all programs
  • Part time spaces are dependent on availability
  • A $50.00 non-refundable registration fee is paid upon enrollment
  • Monthly fees are paid through post-dated cheques

Parents may be eligible for a financial subsidy from the Province of British Columbia Affordable Childcare Benefit Program (ACCB), to assist with childcare costs. Find out more about our fees here.

Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Please note that Covid-19 safety measures may affect hours of operation

Victoria Hill and Queensbourough programs are closed all statutory holidays, including Easter Monday and are closed between Christmas and New Year’s.
